Does God hate homosexuality? The answer is absolutely. Check out 1 Corinthians 6:9-10:
Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
And 1 Timothy 1:9-11:
realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching, according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, with which I have been entrusted.
How does this help you with your question? Well, first it displays God's true view of homosexuality. Secondly, no amount of rules and regulations are going to change this person. In fact the bible teaches that the rule book will actually just make the unbeliever even more desirous to sin (Romans 5:20). Thirdly, we should note that God does not want to see a hint of homosexuality in His people. True, the Lord's people are tempted by sin, the devil and the world and they may have to battle with homosexual thoughts and temptations also, but the Lord's people have something which the unbeliever doesn't. They have the presence of the Holy Spirit in their hearts. Why does that make a difference? Well, it's only a truly spiritual heart that can desire to do all the things which God finds to be good. Even if the unbelieving homosexual decides to quit his or her homosexual ways, they can't please God. To please God, we have to do everything in faith ('everything that does not come from faith is sin' Romans 14:23), faith is a gift of God. Who gets faith, all the elect of God who Christ atoned for on the cross (Ephesians 2:8,9).
